There are 250 beautiful manor houses and churches made of wood in the Małopolska Region. The Little Poland Province Wooden Architecture Route was created for tourists In 2001. The most interesting historical buildings are those which were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2003.
Among them are:
St. Michael the Archangel Church in Dębno Podhalańskie
St. Leonard`s Church in Lipnica Murowana
Gothic church in Dębno Podhalańskie was build of larch wood in the middle of the 15th century with no nail used for the construction. The wall polychrome date back to the very end of the 15th century and it is the oldest such wall painting made from wood in Europe.
Another Gothic wooden church is situated in a village of Lipnica Murowana to the east of Kraków. It was constructed at the end of the 15th century. The roof is covered with wooden shingle.
