Kraków has become a world center of worshipping Lord`s Mercy. The Divine Mercy Shrine is a large complex of 19th century convent and newly bulit modern sanctuary consectreted by Pope John Paul II in 2002.
2 million pilgrims come here to pray every year.
Three popes visited it – John Paul II in 1997 and 2002, Benedict XVI in 2006 and Francis in 2016.
St. Faustina was born as Helena Kowalska in 1905. She lived for several years in the convent in Kraków where she died in 1938 and was buried there.
She had visions of Jesus Christ of the Divine Mercy devotion. She was canonized by John Paul II in 2000.
